Randy Rainbow Strikes Again, This Time Targeting Melania

Randy Rainbow strikes again! This time the target is Melania Trump
I'm risking turning this into the Official Randy Rainbow Fan Page, but I'm going to keep posting his videos anyway.

He brightened our Monday by posting his latest video. He targets Melania Trump, who self describes herself as the "most bullied" person out that.

Randy uses the melody of the song "Be Our Guest" from Beauty and the Beast, to perform "Be Best" which is Melania's supposed anti-bullying phrase.

As Billboard notes, this latest video is basically Disney meets disdain.

Randy introduces the video by introducing Melania Trump as  "the First Lady of the United States if you don't count Mike Pence."

The early part of his videos usually are like a cable news interview. During this, Randy tells Melania, "You always have the best taste in fascists, er, fashion."

Zing!

There's a bit of a campaign out there that wants Randy Rainbow to host the Tony Awards. I think that's a terrific idea.

Anyway, no more spoilers. Watch the video:

Media Spotlight Keeps Racially Charged W. Va. Official Out Of a Job

Pamela Taylor is apparently back on the job as
director of a West Virginia non-profit agency,
despite some recent racist comments she made on Facebook.
12/27/16 UPDATE:

Well, it looks like old Pamela Taylor won't keep her job after all.

Thanks, I believe to that Charleston Gazette-Mail follow up story I describe below, the light of publicity was too much.

As described below, Taylor lost her job at a West Virginia agency for racist comments about Michelle Obama.

When the media spotlight faded, she was quietly reinstated.

But word got out. Now we find out that the West Virginia governor announced that Taylor won't be working at the non-profit center that uses state money and helps the poor.

The move, the gov said, was to ensure Taylor's now former employer follow non-discrimination rules.

PREVIOUS DISCUSSION

We see this all the time:

Someone is caught on social media,  like Facebook or Twitter, saying something awful, racist, wrong, or anything totally reprehensible.

The scene then plays out in a familiar way: There's a public outcry, the bad person is mocked, and then they lose their job or something else important to them.

Sometimes the reaction is overkill, sometimes it's not. But what happens when the media spotlight goes away?

As a West Virginia case proves, the offending person is often quietly reinstated and things go on as if they never happened.

According to the Charleston Gazette-Mail, Pamela Taylor, who last month referred to First Lady Michelle Obama in a Facebook post as "an ape in heels,"  is back on the job as Director at the non-profit Clay County Development Corp.

The Development Corp provides services to seniors and financial aid to low income people in the region.

The entire quote from Taylor on Facebook referred to the incoming First Lady Melania Trump: "It will be refreshing to have a classy, beautiful, dignified First Lady back in the White House. I'm tired of seeing a (sic) Ape in heels."

I'll leave it to you to decide who is more classy: Melanie Trump or Michelle Obama.

Still, the ape crack was pretty racist, though Taylor later said in an apology she isn't racist.

OK, then.

Anyway, Taylor's reinstatement came even after a stern letter from the West Virginia Bureau of Senior Services warned the Development Corp that "any discrimination of staff or the customers (they) serve" could cause the agency to lose funding from state and federal agencies, the Gazette-Mail reported.

The First Lady remark didn't fit the criteria of discriminating against people they serve, but the Clay County Development Corp is clearly skating on thin ice.

After Taylor made her remarks, a local mayor, Beverly Whaling, responded to Taylor's Facebook post, "You made my day, Pam."

The mayor then resigned amid the outcry.

Before us liberals get too smug, some of us are pretty bad, too. Both Taylor and Whaling received numerous death threats after this news came out, and somebody mailed in a white powder to scare people associated with the two women.

I'm not sure why people send death threats to anyone who does something stupid, racists or wrong, but that's just wrong. At least as wrong or more so than Taylor's ugly racist comments.

As is always the case in these kinds of situations, the Clay County Development Corp refused to respond to any questions from the Gazette-Mail, because of the way their M.O. works: Shut the press, the media and the social media out and we can keep doing what we're doing, no matter how creepy the director is.

I'm sure many of the people the Clay County Development Corp serves are now pretty leery of this organization, especially racial minorities that need or want their help.

Still, I can't wait to read future Facebook posts from Taylor, now that she's back safe in her job.

Melania Trump Plagiarizes Michelle Obama's Speech About Hard Work And Honesty.

This photo has been flying around the Internet this morning
after Melania Trump plagarized parts of Michelle Obama's
2008 address at the Democratic National Convention. Ooops.
Hoo Boy.

The Republican National Convention is NOT going that well.

All the headlines this morning are about Melania Trump's speech.

That was expected.

What I didn't expect was this morning's headlines to note that Melania said exactly what Michelle Obama said during the 2008 Democratic National Convention.

Yep,  it seems Melania Trump plagarized Michelle Obama. And she plagiarized the section of Obama's speech that dealt with hard work and honesty.

Ahem.

Melanie Trump last night said that her parents told her that "you work hard for what you want in life; that your word is your bond and you do what you say and keep your promises; that you treat people with respect."

Actually, Michelle Obama, not Melanie's parents told her that.

Here's what Michelle Obama said during the 2008 Democratic National Convention:

"You work hard for what you want in life; that your word is your bond and you do what you say you're going to do; that you treat people with dignity and respect."

Hmmm, see any similarities between Michelle Obama in 2008 and Melania Trump in 2016?

Last night, Melania Trump went on to talk about children: "We want our children in this nation to know that the only limit to your achievements is the strength of your dreams and your willingness to work for them."

In 2008, Michelle Obama said., "We want our children - and all children in this nation - to know that the only limit to the height of your achievements is the reach of your dreams and your willingness to work for them."

OK, Melania changed a few words around, but, um.....

You'd think somebody would have vetted the speech and found the copycat lines. Or did the Trump campaign think nobody would notice?

Let's list some of the problems with this, just to spell it out to the Trump campaign:

1. People have such good memories. Especially of good speeches. Like Michelle Obama's.  Even Donald Trump himself tweeted in 2008 after Michelle finished: "Very good speech by @MichelleObama - and under great pressure - Dems should be proud!"

It was just as easy for everybody else to find Michelle's speech as it was for Melania to find it.

2. Melania's speech was given at the Republican National Convention. Michelle's speech was given at a Democratic convention, those commies!   Is the GOP going soft too and acting like those "horrible liberals?"

3. As noted, the lines Melania lifted were about honesty and hard work. Explain, please, how it is honest and hard working to copy and paste words from a speech given eight years ago.

Social media this morning is of course having an absolute joyous field day with this.

The big trending hashtag on Twitter this morning is #FamousMelaniaTrumpQuotes.

Two of my favorite are: "Barack Obama is still the same man I fell in love with all those years ago."

And:

"I have a dream that one day this nation wil rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: Marry rich."

Of course, the Republican convention has already given us other related laughs.

Scott Baio, that famous actor (who the hell is he? Oh yeah, Joannie and Chachi) gave a speech in which he defined what America means. Said the Great Scott:  "It doesn't mean getting free stuff."

Yeah, like plagarized sections of Michelle Obama speeches.

Let's see, there's Antonio Sabato Jr., the former underwear model, stumping for Trump at the convention by tellling everyone who would listen that he "absolutely" believes Barack Obama is a Muslim.

Yeah, yeah, Antonio, put your pants on will ya?

At this point, I can't WAIT for Donald Trump's speech,  during which, in a stroke of originality, he will tell us "we have nothing to fear but fear itself and I'm going to make you very afraid," and "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for me."
