Eyewitness TV Interview Goes BOOM! Heads Up For Flying Manhole Cover

Look carefully: That's a manhole
cover rocketing skyward behind this
man who was being interviewed on TV.
Sunday afternoon, an underground electrical fire in downtown Buffalo, New York set off a few explosions, local television station WGRZ reports.

A couple buildings were evacuated as crews got the fire under control and the electric utility came to cut power as a precaution, then to restore power after the fire was out.

However, it turns out manhole covers can be very mobile in certain situations. I didn't know they could do this

WGRZ was interviewing a building manager who evacuated people because of the fire, when this happened:

Extremely Scary House Gas Explosion Caught On Police Dash Cam

Aftermath of the dramatic explosion in New Jersey.
Today in New Jersey, a house exploded into smithereens due to a gas explosion.

Crews were on the scene in Stafford Township, New Jersey this morning, looking for the source of a gas leak when the explosion occurred, reports NJ.com.

Nobody was in the house, which was under renovation, but gas company employees, police and fire officials were at the scene when the blast happened, says NJ. com.

Fifteen people were hurt, and two are in critical condition.

Obviously, the house was destroyed. Two houses on either side of the explosion are so badly damaged that they are at least temporarily uninhabitable. Other houses suffered lesser damage.

A police cruiser dash cam captured the explosion. My, gawd, how violent. This is really, really scary:

Spectacular Video Of Mexican Volcano Erupting

Watch this Mexican volcano explode dramatically in
the video at the bottom of this post.
A volcano in Mexico erupted Wednesday and a webcam caught the incredible explosion.

Let's just say we should all be glad nobody was near the Colima volcano when it exploded at about 9:13 a.m. local time Wednesday morning, says Mashable.

The ash cloud went 13,000 feet into the sky. Luckily winds were blowing the ash away from populated areas, including Puerto Vallarta in southwestern Mexico.

There have been no reports of injuries or serious damage with this. Authorities have been keeping people away from the volcano.

As if anybody in their right minds would want to go near it.

The volcano has been erupting repeatedly in recent weeks, but this was the biggest explosion on Colima during its current round of eruptions.

Experts say Colima will probably continue erupting in the coming days and weeks.

This video of Wednesday's eruption is a good reason to stay away from it, but be totally wowed by it.

YIKES! Columbian Fireworks Factory Blows Up

Fireworks factory in Columbia blows up
Watch the scary video in this post.
It's never a good thing when a fireworks warehouse or fireworks factory blows up.

But it's always exciting, that's for sure. Exciting in a bad way, but exciting.

The latest example comes from Columbia, where this week a fireworks warehouse exploded. REALLY exploded.

So far, there have been reports of only two injuries, but firefighters weren't quite able to get close to the remains of the warehouse yet to check for more victims. Yeah, exploding shells will keep pretty much anyone away.

Below is a video of the fireworks factory in Columbia blowing up. It was taken by a local reporter, who as you can see, was blown off his feet by the first large explosion, and then he tries to hide from the explosions behind a truck

Very scary.

It turns out YouTube is filled with lots of videos of fireworks warehouses exploding, which tells me it happens a bit too often.

The worst was a fireworks building that exploded in the middle of a town in the Netherlands back in May, 2000.

I have no idea why there was a big fireworks factory in the middle of a densely populated residential area. Two dozen people were killed, nearly 1,000 were injured and 1,200 or so people were left homeless when the explosions leveled large swaths of the community.

OK, One More Fireworks Moment: Tenn. Fireworks Store Goes KABOOM!!

Maybe the biggest, but worst and most ugly fireworks display this weekend happened at the Fireworks Superstore in Tennessee, which spectacularly caught fire Sunday evening.
Tennessee fireworks store goes up in flames.

Luckily, the fire happened AFTER, and not before the big Fourth of July holiday.

There were some people in the store when the fire started, but luckily they got out safely before the crap really hit the fan.

Travelers through that part of Tennessee had their share of problems, though. The fire sent fireworks blasting onto nearby Interstate 75, so authorities had to close that major highway for awhile.

Scary Video Of Propane Explosion In Philly Food Truck

A still from the video of a food truck exploding in Philadelphia
I don't know how anybody survived, but 12 people were hurt, three seriously, when a propane explosion hit a food truck yesterday in Philadelphia.

You'll see the surveillance video of the explosion below.  Two of the severely injured were a mother and daughter working in the food truck.

Some cars driving by were briefly engulfed in the flames, but the people inside the vehicles thankfully only had minor injuries.

Here's the scary video:

Dramatic Rescue Shows Why I'm Sometimes Afraid of Pumping Gas

In a surveillance camera video that's going viral, a car driven by a guy who went into diabetic shock blasts into gas station pumps in Westchester County, New York, setting off a big explosion and fire.
Chaos and a rescue after a crash at
a New York State gas station.

As you can see in the video, below, a guy who was pumping fuel, an off-duty police officer has a gas pump fall on him.

He manages to run away just at the fire erupts, but then manages to run back and pull the guy who had the diabetic shock out of his car before the fire really consumed everything.

Reports are there were a few minor injuries, but nothing life threatening.

I can't blame the guy who went into diabetic shock; these things happen.

What I can blame is the little stab of fear I get when - this happens more frequently than it should - I'm pumping gas and some bozo comes and fills his tank, or little gas tanks in the bed of his truck, while nonchalantly lighting and/or smoking a cigarette.

Those idiots deserve to be in an explosion, but please just don't involve me.

Anyway, here's the Westchester explosion and rescue. Quite amazing:

Dramatic Surveillance Camera Video of Harlem Explosion Is Beyond Scary

CBS News got its hands on surveillance video of that huge gas explosion that leveled two buildings in Harlem last week, killing at least eight people and injuring many more.
The scene of last week's explosion in East Harlem.

As you'll see in the CBS report, below, a guy was walking down the street when the first concussion rained debris and broken glass very fast on top of him.

The debris came from the collapsing buildings, and windows blowing out in storefronts and apartments across the street from the blast

No word on who the guy is, but miraculously, it appears he's not hurt too bad.

It probably helped he was wearing a fairly heavy jacket, which maybe partly protected him from the rain of debris.

Here's the incredible CBS report and video. Hope THIS never happens again!

Video: Race Car Blows Up Dramatically; We Take You There

Mechanical problems with your car out on the road are a real bummer.

But next time that happens to you, thank your lucky stars it isn't as bad as in the video you'll watch below of the recent National Hot Rod Association Winter Internationals race.

Thankfully, nobody was hurt. But POW!!

Gasoline + Woodpile = Bang! + Hilarity + Injury

In the next couple of weeks, I'll need to set fire to the brush pile in my yard. As always, I'll get a burn permit from the town, I'll do it on a day when it won't spread out of control, I'll have stuff ready to tone it down in case it gets out of hand, and most importantly, I'll set it alight in a completely opposite way than the guys in the video below.

Gawd, the guy couldn't even safely climb the wood pile to soak it in gasoline. Yes, gasoline.  Hey, what can possibly go wrong when you only dump five gallons of gasoline on the woodpile?

The inevitable happens when they strike a match. They survived, but they are future Darwin Award winners.

So watch the vid and gloat about how much smarter you are than they.

Darwin Award Nominee Target Practices, But Lives

Here's something you kiddies shouldn't try at home:

What if you found a discarded propane tank floating in a random pond somewhere?

The answer that doesn't come to mind immediately is shoot it. But, as this video shows, such an answer occurs to some people. I think you can get clues to the intelligence of these people by the title on the video you'll see below. Apparently, the tank contained "popane."

Well, it's a spectcular video in the end, but people, just to be safe: Hide your propane tanks from some of the dumber gun totin' folk out there:
