Dover, Delaware Police Officer Out Swifts Taylor Swift With "Shake It Off"

UPDATE: Taylor Swift like this guy:

Admit it. Like me, a lot of you probably like Taylor Swift's current big hit "Shake It Off."
Believe it or not, the guy on the left in this
photo can out Taylor Swift Taylor Swift.

However, a big, burly officer with the Dover, Delaware Police Department recently put in an EPIC performance of "Shake If Off" while he patrolled the city.

The guy, so far only identified as "Officer Davis," has got the moves down perfectly.

I think Taylor Swift needs to hire this guy immediately to put him in her shows.

As it is, news organizations are already clammoring for more on this story. The video has gone totally viral.

The Dover Police Department only posted the video on its Facebook page Friday morning, and less than 24 hours later, had received nearly 400,000 views

See for yourself. It will totally brighten your day:

Boy 6 and 3/4 Years Old, Asks Neil deGrasse Tyson "What Is Meaning Of Life?" Answer Beyond Perfect

It turns ou Neil deGrasse Tyson knows what
the meaning of life is.
Scientist and Cosmos host Neil deGrasse Tyson gets some really tough questions while out on speaker tours.

Really tough.

But he seems to answer the queries just fine. More than fine.

Like the other night in Boston, when a kid named Jack, age 6 and 3/4, asked Tyson, "What is the meaning of life?"

Watch the video at the bottom of this post for Tyson's perfect answer, but here's a spoiler, in the form of part of Tyson's response:

"People ask that question on the assumption that meaning is something you can look for....'Here's the meaning. I've been looking for it.' It doesn't consider the possibility that meaning in life is something you create.

You manufacture it for yourself and for others. Did I learn something that I didn't know yesterday, bringing me a little closer to knowing all that can be known in the universe?

To learn is to become closer to nature and to learn how things work gives you power to influence events. It gives you power to help people who might need it, power to help yourself, to shape a trajectory."

Tyson then urged Jack to jump in puddles, to pull out all the pots and pans in the house and bang on them with spoons. Jack's parents might object, but Tyson said he was overriding them and giving Jack his permission, because jumping in puddles and banging on pots are ways kids explore and learn.

It's a habit, Tyson said, that people should carry with them all their lives.  Tyson said he considers a day in which he didn't learn something as a day wasted.

Which makes me glad I stumbled upon the video, below, because I learned something today. You will, too.

Ezra Frech, 9, Cool Kid Who's The BEST Antidote To Scumbags

Athlete and motivational speaker
Ezra Frech, age 9.
People who watch Ellen, which of course is Ellen Degeneres' talk show, know she likes to interview cool kids.

I stumbled upon one of those interviews today, and I think he's my favorite of all the Ellen kid interviews I've seen or heard about.

His name is Ezra Frech, and he's nine years old.

Initially, when you watch the interview, you think the incredibly remarkable thing about him is he's this really, REALLY good athlete, despite having had one leg amputated and two fingers on one of his hands.

(One of those fingers is a former toe, taken by doctors to help him out when they amputated his leg.)

Then you realize what a great interview he is. He's just so interesting and inspiration and smart.

Degeneres, during the interview, said Ezra should be a motivational speaker. Ezra said he already does that.  He's got a whole organization around that called Team Ezra.

Can't say I'm surprised there.

The impressive thing about this kid is not what's going on physically with him. It's his brain. Poised, smart way, way beyond his years, wise, philosophical, polite, engaging - what's not to love?

I get so worn down by the scumbuckets I always read about in the news, and the ignorant scumbuckets I often feature in this blog.

So it's a HUGE breath of fresh air when I find out about some kid like Ezra Frech.

The kids are alright. Ezra demonstrates it. Want proof? Watch Ellen Degeneres interview Ezra Frech:

Vox Magazine: Are Right Wing "Christians" Issuing More Threats Than Jihadists?

Vox, the online magazine, raised an interesting observation yesterday.
The online publication Vox got some threats
after running articles about Charlie Hebdo cartoons
and Islam. But the threats didn't exactly come
from jihadist sympathizers.

They ran an image of a Charlie Hebdo cartoon, the kind that has occasionally inspired threats, and terrorists attacks by fundamentalist "Islamic" morons who think their religion was insulted, and that justifies mass murder.

Which is why you had that awful terrorist attack in Paris at the offices of Charlie Hebdo and that market. The Islamist extremists think insulting the prophet Mohammed should be a death penalty or something.

Vox reports that they have indeed received a number of threats. But not from who you'd think. I'll let Vox explain it:

"Writers at Vox have indeed been bombarded with threats for our Charlie Hebdo coverage. But not one of those threats has come from a Muslim or in response to publishing anti-Islam cartoons. Revealingly, they have rather all come from non-Muslims furious at our articles critizing Islamophobia."

Most of the threats are from people hoping jihadist militants kill the offending writer.

"A recent email hoped that Muslims will 'behead you one day' so that 'we will never have to read your trash again.'"

Um, wouldn't it be easier to just not read Vox if you don't like it? I'm not aware of any law that says we have to read Vox or any other publication.

Ok, Vox, go on:

"As is often the case, the strongest threats have been reserved for women. One writer received a message arguing that someone should 'put a gun up your ass' to make her understand terrorism."

My, these right wing fanatics are so imaginative! And have such interesting sexual fantasies! Though I'm not sure how putting a Glock 9 mm up one's anus will make anyone understand the intricacies of that terrorist attack in Paris. But what do I know?

Here's the richest part of Vox's piece on the threats they've been getting:
The Paris terrorists were/are surely some of
the worst people on the planet. Right wing bigots are
light years better, hut still not good people.

"Ironically, these threats are typically couched in arguments that Muslims are inherently irrational and violent. Further, threats made with the explicit intention of silencing journalists from discussing Islamophobia are positioned as necessary 'defenses' of free speech against the threat of Islam."

Yeah, I don't get the logic either. "Let's ban free speech to protect free speech."

Sounds like the only speech the right wing Fox watching wackos want to preserve is their own. Probably because nobody listens to them as most other voices from other sources are more informative and interesting.

Hey, you gotta try something, right?

True, people who shoot up magazine offices and Jewish markets and kill 17 people are far, FAR worse than the ignorant morons on our nation's right wing political fringes.

But make no mistake, the dickheads that threatened Vox are bad people. Let's once again let Vox explain it, since they've been doing such a good job:

"The people who threaten us are crazies and there's no indication that they are representative of any greater whole or are considering doing any more than sending an email. But we are not the only outlet being targeted, and receiving dozens of threatening emails can have a real effect on journalists, even if we suspect the threats will come to nothing."

It seems that many, but not all on the right wing and evangelical groups seem to continually try to find ways to be petty and parochial.  Just look at what happened at Duke University in North Carolina yesterday:

Says Mashable:

"Duke University has 'reconsidered' a plan that would have allowed Muslims to use its chapel's famed bell tower for a weekly, amplified call to prayer.

"'Duke remains committed to fostering an inclusive, tolerant and welcoming campus for all of its students," a spokesman for Duke said. "However, it was clear that what was conceived as an effort to unify was not having the intended effect."

And why not? Because evangelist Franklin Graham, son of the Rev. Billy Graham is an asshole. Here's what Franklin Graham, that bigot, had to say:

"Christianity is being excluded from the public square (while) followers of Islam are raping, butchering, and beheading Christians, Jews and anyone who doesn't submit to their Sharia Islamic law."

Oh, that's so rich. Christians don't have a voice in America anymore? What doobie have you been smoking, Frankie?  Can I call you Frankie, Frankie?

OK, let's follow the Frankie "logic" here. It looks like Frankie thinks that since some Muslims are doing evil, murderous things, that means ALL Muslims are evil and murderous.

If that's the case then if there are a few so-called Christians who are threatening Vox and anyone else who dares to say something mildly positive about Islam, then ALL Christians are small-minded thugs who get off on sending vulgar, ignorant threats to people whose point of view they don't like.

I obviously don't believe that about Christians. But do YOU think Christians are all stupid bullies, Frankie?  If I follow your "logic," it seems you do.

It goes on and on. We have former GOP U.S. House Rep Joe Walsh issuing this lovely Tweet:

Yes, it's fair to argue CNN and MSNBC might not have shown enough bravery and free speech commitment when they didn't show the cartoons, but do you REALLY want Islamist terrorists to kill people at CNN and MSNBC?

Doesn't that make you as bad as the terrorists who do want to kill westerners. Joe, are you going to turn up at a jihadist training camp in Syria or something?

Since I've been on a pro-free speech rant, I certainly won't ask the likes of Frankie Graham and Joe Walsh to shut up. They can say whatever they like.

However, everyone has the right to free speech. Or at least should have that right. So let's raise our voices to increase understanding and peace between major religions.

We need more of that, not less.

Just ask the fine people of Paris.

Manhunt For Vermont's Washing Machine Pee Perp

Waterbury, Vermont police know who this
guy is, peeing into a washing machine at
a laundromat, thanks to lots of tipsters
who identified the peeing perp.
We pick on Florida all the time for its,  um, creative criminals, but up here in Vermont, we have our own special breed of weirdos.

Exhibit A this week is a guy named Steven Byrd who decided it would be fun recently to take a pee into a washing machine at Waterbury Laundry & Dry in Waterbury, Vermont.

Surveillance video shows Byrd stepping up on a chair, unzipping his pants, peeing into the machine, zipping his pants back up, and closing the washing machine lid.

He wiped his dick with his sleeve for good measure before finishing up. A real class act, that guy.

I guess he thought he was being hilarious. He and some friends had arrived at the unattended laundromat to throw things around. Again, because I guess it's fun to do that. Or something.

Vermonters, though, fight back against crime. Especially pee crime. Waterbury Police Chief Toby Feccia released the surveillance video of Byrd peeing into the washing machine. People then gleefully uploaded the video to YouTube.

The Waterbury, Vermont "Peeing Perp," Steven
Byrd, in his Facebook photo in which he
thinks he's a gangsta or something.
Police know the peeing perp was Byrd because Feccia said he received "dozens of calls" from people identifying Byrd. On their Facebook page, the Waterbury Police Department said that within 28 hours of posting the video, it got 29,000 views, 255 shares and 64 comments.

It didn't help that Byrd was wearing the same goofy hat he posted on his Facebook page a couple days earlier when he peed in the washer.

His Facebook photo is a piece of work, too. It shows him crouching in front of a graffiti-smeared wall. Yeah, you're a real gangsta thug, Steven!

Authorities were still trying to find Byrd at last report, but when they do catch up with him, he'll be charged with vandalism.

And being a total moron.

Plus, he'll live on in Internet infamy. This story has been picked up all over the nation and the world, including in the New York Daily News, The Smoking Gun, The popular blog Nothing To Do With Arbroath and others.

His mother must be so proud.

Watch the surveillance video if you can stand it:

Let's Climb Into A Balloon!

I wonder how he eventually got out.
Just because I'm in a wicked silly mood, let's spend a moment with a guy who gets inside a giant balloon.

Not sure what's funnier: The guy in the balloon or the other guy in the room laughing:

I Don't Know How Anybody Can Actually Believe Rush Limbaugh's Bull

Rush Limbaugh is STILL a big fat idiot
after all these years.
Then comedian and now Minnesota Senator Al Franken once wrote a book called "Rush Limbaugh Is A Big Fat Idiot and Other Observations."

The trouble with Franken is that he's way, WAY too polite. Calling Limbaugh a Big Fat Idiot is like calling a Minnesota winter "slightly brisk."

I bring this up because of Limbaugh's latest antic. I know there's so many to choose from, but I haven't done it in awhile so what the heck.

Here it is: You might have heard that a bartender at an Ohio country club House Speaker John Boehner likes to go to threatened to kill the congressman.

Something about Boehner being the devil and causing Ebola.   Yes, our bartender was deranged, and let's hope some mental health treatment is in the works for the guy.

Limbaugh acknowledged the bartender was crazy, but why? Well, in Limbaugh's world, the reason our bartender thought Boehner caused Ebola is because he was influenced by Democrats, says Talking Points Memo.

Huh? Those nasty Democrats.

Here's Limbaugh's logic: Democrats back in October criticized Republicans for cutting funding to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Some Democrats had suggested that the funding cuts might have slowed the Center's efforts to find an Ebola vaccine.

Yeah, the Democrats' claim was a bit of a stretch, but Limbaugh's claim is stretchier than a rubber band that can extend around Limbaugh's um, ample waistline.

In Limbaugh land, the Democrats should not have criticized Republicans because a crazed bartender in Ohio would hear the Democrats and then decide it was all Boehner's fault that Ebola happened.

I guess Democrats are accessory to attempted murder, in Limbaugh land.

The Internet is rife with lists of the worst things Limbaugh has ever said. There's a lot of them. I'm not sure who's worse. Him or sleazy performance artist Ann Coulter.

Here's a few things Limbaugh said, most of the following, according to Addicting Info:

"Women should not be allowed on juries where the accused is a stud."

"Feminism was established so as to allow unattractive women access to the mainstream of society."

"The only way to reduce the number of nucler weapons is to use them."
(Yeah, let's nuke everybody. That would make the world better!)

And finally, when he didn't want us to donate money to Haitian earthquake victims in 2010, he said, "We've already donated to Haiti. It's called the U.S. income tax."

Obviously, I don't lose sleep over the stupid things stupid Limbaugh says. I don't even worry about his equally stupid fan base of mostly loser middle age guys, most of whom are probably too stupid to work, but blame "feminazis" for their unemployment, as Limbaugh would put it.

But we always need a reminder, just to beware, that Limbaugh is unfortunately still on the airwaves, and after all these years of useless blather from him, Limbaugh is still a big fat idiot.

Just worse than that.
