Birthday Gift From Portia De Rossi To Wife Ellen Degeneres Can't Be Topped

Portia De Rossi, left, recently gave Ellen DeGeneres a 60th
birthday gift we can all be happy about.
My husband's birthday is today.

Happy Birthday Jeff!!!!!!

I want to give him the world, but unfortunately, funds are tight. He's going to have to settle for something much smaller. Sorry, Jeff, I'm trying!

I do wish, however, I could give him a birthday gift like Portia De Rossi gave to her wife, Ellen DeGeneres, on Ellen's recent 60th birthday.

By the way, this is going to be a feel good story, because in this day and age, the more feel good stories, the better.

DeGeneres is a longtime fan of scientist Dian Fossey, who spent basically her whole life studying rare mountain gorillas in Rwanda. You might remember Fossey from the book  "Gorillas In The Mist."

Fossey was murdered in 1985, but her work goes on, thanks to lots of awesome volunteers and donations from people who understand how important Fossey's work was.

DeGeneres is among those who totally understands why Fossey's work and legacy is so important. DeGeneres talk show made a big deal out of her birthday, and finally "special guest" De Rossi came on to disclose what she bought for her wife for the big birthday.

Dian Fossey spend her life protecting African gorillas unti
she was murdered in 1985. American celebritites Ellen
DeGeneres and Portia DeRossi just ensured Fossey's
work continues.
Because DeGeneres is such a fan of Fossey, De Rossi sprung for the construction of the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. It's next to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, and this will be a part of a center for education, tourism and scientific research.

They also established the Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund to study, protect and advocate for the world's most vulnerable animals and wildlife.

My husband Jeff is a total animal lover, especially dogs. An excellent way to judge a person is how they think of animals. People like Jeff are keepers because they love animals. People who have a soft spot for animals tend to be morally, ethically, emotionally beautiful. That describes Jeff.

De Rossi probably knows she's very lucky to be married to DeGeneres for the same reason.

Here's the very nice announcement of De Rossi's gift on the Ellen Show back on February 1:

This Three Year Old Is Way Smarter Than You

This little girl can recite the whole Periodic Table. She's 3.
OK, kiddies! Recite the entire Periodic Table to me!

Hello? Anyone? Nobody?

Well, we have three year old girl named Brielle to the rescue. She recently appeared on Ellen DeGeneres' show to demonstrate her prowess with the Periodic Table. Yep, this little kid knows all the elements.

She also knows all the state capitols, all the countries in Europe and Africa, and the names of all U.S. Presidents.

No, I can't do that, either.  Brielle explains herself by saying, "My little brain just remembers!"

Here's the charming video:

Ellen DeGeneres Helps Us Through The Starbucks Christmas Cup Crisis Of 2015

Ellen DeGeneres helps guide us through the Great Starbucks
Christmas Cup Crisis of 2015.
I was going to weigh in on the "controversy" about the Starbucks holiday season cups, which are just red.

Some evangelical Christians are upset because the cups don't mention Christmas, or anything like that.

However, I saw a clip of Ellen DeGeneres explaining the situation and possible solutions much better than I could, so I'll just let her do it.

Ezra Frech, 9, Cool Kid Who's The BEST Antidote To Scumbags

Athlete and motivational speaker
Ezra Frech, age 9.
People who watch Ellen, which of course is Ellen Degeneres' talk show, know she likes to interview cool kids.

I stumbled upon one of those interviews today, and I think he's my favorite of all the Ellen kid interviews I've seen or heard about.

His name is Ezra Frech, and he's nine years old.

Initially, when you watch the interview, you think the incredibly remarkable thing about him is he's this really, REALLY good athlete, despite having had one leg amputated and two fingers on one of his hands.

(One of those fingers is a former toe, taken by doctors to help him out when they amputated his leg.)

Then you realize what a great interview he is. He's just so interesting and inspiration and smart.

Degeneres, during the interview, said Ezra should be a motivational speaker. Ezra said he already does that.  He's got a whole organization around that called Team Ezra.

Can't say I'm surprised there.

The impressive thing about this kid is not what's going on physically with him. It's his brain. Poised, smart way, way beyond his years, wise, philosophical, polite, engaging - what's not to love?

I get so worn down by the scumbuckets I always read about in the news, and the ignorant scumbuckets I often feature in this blog.

So it's a HUGE breath of fresh air when I find out about some kid like Ezra Frech.

The kids are alright. Ezra demonstrates it. Want proof? Watch Ellen Degeneres interview Ezra Frech:

Great Christmas Gifts For Kids! Including Winos, Drug Dealers And A Perverted Tarzan!

Ellen Degeneres shops for toys so you don't have to.
Or maybe you will have to shop after all.
You might have heard about the Breaking Bad doll controversy. Something about having kids play make believe with drug dealer dolls.

Well, count on Ellen Degeneres to find more wonderful toys for your kids to play with. Just in time for Christmas!

We have the wino and cop dolls, the Tarzan doll, who, as Ellen puts it, doesn't really need Jane, and ET's finger, which has found a new way to call home.

We'll let Ellen explain it, since she's way, way better at it than me. Get your paper and pen to start making those Christmas shopping lists!

H/T to sister Lynn for alerting me to this:
