Yup. Pets Are Totally Weird

This is Tonks, one of our dogs. This is also Tonks' idea
of finding a comfortable position to rest on the couch.
Pets are weird.
Anybody who has a dog or a cat or almost any other pet knows their behaviors can be a bit, um, strange.

My two dogs, for instance, find the weirdest and seemingly most uncomfortable positions to take a snooze:  Upside down, hanging precariously off the back of a chair, splayed out in the middle of the hallway.

Whatever. Most other pets are bizarre, too, so I know I'm not alone.

Luckily, we have an outfit called the Pet Collective that documents and compiles some of these strange furry dudes and dudettes in action,

Here's the latest compilation, for your viewing pleasure:

Why You Shouldn't Get A Hoverboard, In Case You Didn't Know Already

Maybe getting that Hoverboard for Christmas wasn't
such a great idea.
The big rage this past Christmas was to go out and buy Hoverboards.

It looked cool, floating along on those things, but humans being humans, and technology being technology, it didn't work out so well.

Hoverboards seem to catch fire, and those that don't seem to boost business at emergency rooms as people fall off them.

If you need proof and a good time waster, watch this video of disaster involving Hoverboards and other technological toys.

It'll make you want to become a Luddite.

After The Cecil The Lion Murder, You'll Want To Watch This Video

A man rescues a dog from an ice floe,
one of the incidents captured in a compilation
video of people being good to others, especially animals.
It's been a tough week for animal lovers, what with the hue and cry over the death of Cecil The Lion.

I do hope Zimbabwe manages to extradict Walter Palmer, the moron Minnesota dentist that killed the lion, to face charges there.

At least it appears that reports of Cecil's brother, Jericho, being shot by poachers are apparently untrue.

Meanwhile, we need to remember that many people are actually nice to animals.

So, as an antidote, watch this very comforting compilation from LiveLeak. It's people being nice to others, but mostly people being good to animals.

It's wonderful to know there is some good in the world:

Eyewitless News: Compilation Of The Best TV News Interviews

Every time something happens, the TV news crews show up to interview eyewitnesses to tell them what happened.
This surfer dude in a big bad storm is one of several
colorful interviewees local news reporters captured.

Every once in awhile you get a gem

So, as a rainy/snowy/floody day time waster watch this compilation of the best eyewitnesses on the news we've ever seen.

The compilation is even entertaining DESPITE the obnoxious ad that pops in the middle and won't go away.

Enjoy!

Saturday Time Waster: World's Least Competent Robbers

Oh, what the hell. Here's a compilation video of robbers who are not really good at their jobs.
An older woman (in red) scatters sledgehammer-wielding
robbers who were attempting a jewelry store heist
by bashing them with her purse

It's always fun to laugh at people who try to commit a crime and fail miserable.

In this video, I particularly like the old lady bashing robbers with her purse after she saw him as part of a group trying to smash their way into an expensive Rolex store.

Lots of other good ones here, so enjoy. (Though I'm not sure why a lot of the clips are backward, as if viewing through a mirror):

Another Month of Entertaining News Bloopers

I always like those compilation videos that demonstrate that live TV when doing newscasts is fraught with danger.
Uh, Am I on now? Another month of
head-slapping news bloopers.

This month's episode of TV newscasters having their share of problems includes one reporter who, on air, fell into a North Carolina creek terribly polluted with coal tar.

The famous clip of the U.S Congressman threatening to throw a reporter over a balcony railing is there for good measure.

There's lots of weather clips, which makes sense because there's been lots of weather lately.

My favorite moment when a man being interviewed says winter is "Like Justin Beiber, kind of cute and exciting when it first started out and now it's a bit obnoxious and should just stay in Canada."

Here, here! on that one.

Here's your morning news. Watch:

A Vine Time Waster For Your New Year's Eve

Many of you out there are anticipating going out for your being New Year's Eve party.

As I write this, it's only 12:30 p.m., nearly 12 hours to go before the big hour when we welcome 2014.

Holidays are great time wasters. In that spirit, I give you 20 minutes of the best Vine videos of 2013. You know Vine, those six-second videos that are almost always boring and completely out of context, but are sometimes brilliant.

Most of these are pretty fun. Enjoy!
