Some 2019 Compilations To Celebrate The First Day Of 2020

Welcome to 2020, and say goodbye to 2019.

As is the case every year, there's all kinds of compilation videos to say so long to the year just past.

They are wonderful time wasters if you are having a quiet New Years Day or are nursing a hangover or whatever.

So, without further ado, here's a few of those time wasters.

The first one just has a hodgepodge of odd moments and such from the year.  It's all over the place, just like the entire year was:

There's one or two repeats of the above video in this next one. But it's still worth watching to prove that other people had a worse 2019 than you did:

If you weren't feeling it at work in 2019, it could have been worse. Here you go!

Finally, on a good note, here's a compilation from 2019 of people (and some animals) doing things better than you can.  Much better. The very last clip in this long compilation is one of my favorites, and certainly the most moving. Happy New Year!

Why Trees Aren't Always So Huggable

In the Darwin war between trees and humans,
the trees appear to be winning.
I have to clear a few more dead and dying trees from my property.

Judging by the compilation video below, I ought to be careful. Trees, it seems, are out to get us.

Also judging from the video, it's amazing how many people think a very dead, skinny branch will hold them up.

People should also remember they are not Tarzan.

After watching the video, I also now wonder if trees are smarter than people.

You be the judge:

You Probably Didn't Overdo It On St. Patrick's Day Like These People Did

We hope this wasn't you celebrating
 St. Patrick's Day yesterday.
Some of you might be hung over or bleary eyed today if you went out and celebrated St. Patrick's Day a bit too much yesterday.

Yes, a few of you out there probably associate the day with a bit of binge drinking.

After all, the bars opened at the crack of dawn, and some of you were there for the grand opening to spend the day drinking green beer.

Maybe a couple of you later barfed out green gunk. I know, I know, I'm getting gross.

However, if you think you made a fool of yourself on St. Patrick's Day when you had a little too much, don't worry. You probably weren't as bad as the compilation video you see below.

As usual, the best moments are when animals get involved. Like at about 2:50 into it when a drunk guy falls out of his chair, and one of the dogs goes inside to retrieve a boot. As if that's going to help.

In another clip, at around 4:30, a dog refuses to surrender a case of Bud Light to his human friends.

Seriously, Fido. Bud Light?

Another lesson from this video is, if you're drunk, don't play with fire, and forgo athletics.

Here's the video that will make you either feel better or worse about imbibing:

More Fails From 2014 (Can't Get Enough)

Like everything else in this post, this doesn't end well.
Stumbled upon more of the viral fails of 2014 in this compilation. I noticed most of them have to do with human stupidity, no surprise there.

People definitely need a primer in the laws of physics.

I was also pleased to see many are weather related. Weather causes lots of fails, doesn't it?

Here you go, or your Monday time waster:

Frozen Lakes Are Meant For Frigid Mishaps

Here in northwestern Vermont, where I live, large Lake Champlain has pretty much completely frozen over for the first time in seven years.
Ice fishing enthusiasts on Lake Champlain, Vermont
in a photo I took two years ago. Unlike the people
in the video in this post, this trio played it safe
and walked only a thick, solid ice.

We've had a lot of really warm winters in the past decade, so there's been a lot of open water in recent years.

You'd think a lake in Vermont would freeze over every winter, but not with the mild temperatures we've had.

Until this year. It's been sort of cold, so we're back to walking on water on the lake.

Of course, no ice is completely safe, so there's always the danger of falling through. But the ice on most (but not all!) of Lake Champlain is thick and solid, so you can walk or even drive on it.

The lake has turned into a skating, skiing, ice fishing playground.

But in the spirit of warning people about the dangers of thin ice, pressure cracks and the like, we offer you this video of stupid people going out on ice that is decidedly NOT safe.

For your amusement and an instructional tutorial on what not to do in the winter, I present this very very funny compilation:

Slow News Week, So Here's Some People Who Had A Worse Week Than You

If you've been all Justin Biebered out, and want some other failures to look at, you're in luck.

The ever-ready go to default when nothing is going on and you want to waste time is here.

This week's Fails! (Don't worry the woman hit by the wave escaped with minor cuts and bruises)

Fireworks Are More Fun When They Get Totally Screwed Up

On New Year's Eve, spectacular fireworks displays go off around the world. Some of them are truly breathtaking.
Oops. This didn't go as planned

But I prefer the fireworks that go awry, when somebody screws up. Unless somebody gets hurt. But when things go like the do in the video below, it's wonderful.

Props to the people running back and forth near the malfunctioning fireworks, panicking and not knowing how to shut the damn calamity off.

Happy New Year!
